HELP! My Overhead Door is Damaged! What do I do?

Provided by Sylvester’s Maintenance & Mechanical… Your Source for Everything Dock & Door.

First off, don’t worry…Sylvester's can help!

For many businesses, commercial-grade overhead doors are at the center of all the action in a busy environment with forklifts moving, people loading & unloading trucks & tractor trailers, and thousands upon thousands of dollars of products moving in and out.  When an overhead door becomes damaged or out of operation, it can cost your business an untold sum of money.

Below are common issues that Sylvester’s solves for our customers every day. With a commercial fleet of 30+ vehicles with highly trained and certified technicians, we can handle just about anything… quickly, efficiently, and affordably.

·       My Overhead Door is Stuck! Overhead doors can become inoperable in an Open, Closed or Partially Open or Partially Closed position. Repairs can be something simple or something more complicated. A Sensor may need to be replaced, the Springs could need adjustment, Rollers may need to be replaced from wean n’ tear, Hinges may be worn or broken, and the like. Never fear…Sylvester’s is here. We can fix any overhead door issue.

·       The Sensors on my Overhead Door are Not Working Properly! Sensor problems are very commonplace repairs on Commercial Overhead Doors. Some fixes are easy when the Sensor is simply dirty or obstructed, which can be wiped off with a dry cloth or a Q-Tip dipped in rubbing alcohol.  If these simple solutions don’t work, you may have to replace the Commercial Garage Door Opener or Remote Controls.

·       My Overhead Door has a Broken Spring!  Commercial Overhead Doors generally weigh a significant amount. The Springs on your door are what lift the weight of the door and wear-out after many cycles of opening and closing as your overhead door become aged. Springs can “snap” without warning. When this occurs, the overhead door will not operate and can be a very dangerous condition which requires immediate Spring replacement. We stock Commercial Overhead Door Springs and can make the repair quickly and efficiently.

·       My Overhead Door is Out of the Door Rail Tracks! Often, wind or contact with a forklift can make the door become dislodged from the rails. Sometimes it is simply a lack of lubrication on the rollers and rails. Other times, a more significant repair may be needed.

·       Something is Wrong with my Overhead Door Motor! Like all moving components, the Commercial Overhead Door Motor, also called an operator, may need replacement after many years of service. Telltale signs a Commercial Overhead Door Motor may need replacement would be unusual noise or loud noise emanating from the motor, or unusual slowness of the opening or closing of the Commercial Overhead Door. Sylvester’s inventories many different models of Commercial Overhead Door Motors and can quickly perform needed replacements.

·       Sections of my Commercial Overhead Door are Damaged!  If a Commercial Overhead Door Panel is damaged, the first step is to examine the damage and create an estimate.  In many cases, sections can be ordered and replaced for a very reasonable cost. Depending upon the age of the overhead door, it may be a better route to replace the entire door, motor and rails.  At Sylvester’s, we will take the time to examine your damaged overhead door and consult with you to determine whether it is more economical to repair the overhead door or replace the overhead door with a new option suitable for your needs.
